Experienz, a nomadic experimental platform of live artistic practices, proposes for its second edition an appointment around the living at WIELS, the lung of contemporary creation in Belgium, in parallel with Art Brussels 2013. Entitled Materializing the Social, this edition addresses the notion of biopolitics, a concept initiated by Michel Foucault in 1974, designating a form of power exercised not on geographical territories but on individuals.
The proposals of the invited artists engage a reflection on notions of resistance, biopower, self-government over others, the individual’s relationship to the group and norms and on the relationship of the physical body to the social body.
